Yesterday was Derek's 25th Birthday. It wasn't really any different than any other day, but I can't help but think of his 26th Birthday or Thanksgiving or Christmas. These things are gonna be different...
Next year it won't be just us. Next year it won't be us our family wants to see. Next year we won't be able to just pack up and leave so easily. Next year we will have a baby. Next year he will be a Dad. Next year I will be a Mama.
As excited as I am for this baby (and believe me, I am) I can't help but feel overwhelmed about what we are losing. We choose to have a baby. We choose to give up "just us." We choose this.
I guess I just have to get used to the fact that it's gonna be different now...
